It changes us. That's the scary truth about trauma. Our wounding redirects us and demands something from us that we would never expect. That's the scary thing about pain. We don't see it coming, but when it hits we have to move forward forever changed, with courage and bravery to

Personalized Sex Addiction Treatment

From a clinical perspective, sex addiction is defined by undesirable sexual behaviors that are repeatedly acted upon with  no regard for the consequences and  effects on your personal life or your relationship.  The consequences of these behaviors often cause shame and diminish the trust between you and your partner and threaten to destroy the relationship.

Our goal, through sex addiction treatment, is an intimate relationship that’s healthy – a critical component of a balanced life.

Your most pressing concern when facing therapy is, of course, "Who can best help me reduce the pain I’m feeling?" In relation to sex addiction therapy, the most effective treatment professional is a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT).

Specifically, a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) is a therapy professional who:
  • Has a minimum of a Masters-level degree in psychology or a related field
  • Is fully licensed or certified based on the state licensing requirements for a mental health professional
  • Has a minimum of five (5) years of experience providing mental health services
  • Has completed 120 hours of in-person classroom training in addiction and trauma
  • Has completed 30 hours of clinical supervision by a CSAT certified supervisor

My Approach to Your Treatment

As a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), I'm a recognized expert in the field of addiction therapy. You can rest assured that you are in capable hands for treating the very complex area of sex addiction; in addition to advanced training in addiction, I also bring over a decade of expertise in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

We begin your treatment with assessment tools that help us determine a diagnosis. Among the assessment tools I utilize are:

  • SAST (Sexual Addiction Screening Test)
  • SDI (Sexual Dependence Inventory)
  • PSS (Partner Sexuality Survey)
  • PTSI (Post Traumatic Stress Index)
  • Betrayal Bond Index Test and the
  • MAWASI (Money and Work Adaptive Styles Index)

Healthy sexual recovery from addiction takes commitment and motivation, however, probably most notable, is the knowledge that changes in behavior take time. There are specific stages to recovery that are integral to reaching your goal and for this reason, I employ a very structured, task-based competency model in customizing your individual sex addiction treatment.

Specific areas of addiction treatment specialization for individuals, couples, and groups include:

  • Sex Addiction
  • Partners of Sex Addicts
  • Pornography Addiction
  • Love and Relationship Addiction

How I Can Help You with Your Sexual Addiction

Sexual addiction is a complex addiction but there is hope! As a trained Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT®), I have completed training developed by Dr. Patrick Carnes which required attendance at multiple training modules and supervision with a CSAT Supervisor.

It also requires ongoing education so that ASATs/CSATs such as myself are experts in providing sexual addiction therapy. It is a rigorous process designed to help me best help you.
